Me.

Here we go, a small blurb about me. Im twenty-four years old and putting the final pieces into my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree at the Art Institute of Seattle. I guess the first part of me would be that I am a photographer and my major focus is editorial portraiture. That term usually grants blank stares and looks of confusion, "what is editorial portraiture" tends to follow. A very broad, yet specific term, which only seems to be relevant to photographers. So what is it? The best definition I've come across is Photography that accompanies the printed word. Open any magazine, find and article and notice the imagery that goes along with it, this is editorial photography. Now find an article with people and these are editorial portraits.

There, we broke the ice, now a little more about me. I was born and raised in Seattle, I love it here and this is where I want to stay. I ventured out after high school, I tried LA, hated it.  I managed a year there and couldn't take any more, don't get me wrong the sun is great, but I cant budget that much sunblock (redhead) and the social norms were just too far from my Pacific NorthWest background. I tried Chicago too, my reactions were the exact opposite, loved it, however it was too cold too often. So here I remain. Everything I know and love is here, to put it simply what better than to define it with a meme.
 So yes, Seattle it is.

Aside from school, what do I do? Quite honestly I do a lot, its hard to keep a grip on everything let alone describe it in a couple paragraphs. I work, we all do, pretty boring so I'll skip right over that. I coach a middle school cheer team and I absolutely love it. Meeker Middle School in Kent, comprised of 7th and 8th graders, twelve of my favorite little humans in the world. They drive me crazy, make me pull my hair out, and yell far too often but I love each and every one of them and I am proud to call them mine. Okay mine-ish, I guess I should give some credit and ownership to their parents. I give a lot of my time to the team and they work their butts off for it so I'll happily sit in my car and bare the south bound traffic three times a week, plus wherever their competitions may be Saturday mornings. Where does that leave us? One-Hundred-Sixty-Eight hours in a week, Sixty down between school and work, another Fifteen to my team girls, Six hours a night too sleeping and at least Two a day to eating.... math done? Ive got a little over twenty percent of my weekly hours left. Thirty-Seven hours to go, I work out, kind of a lot, I'm a gym junkie. Depending on the day, I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I Run, I Lift, and I go to an open mat at my old gymnastics gym. Whether its the endorphin release or some weird neurosis of mine, I thoroughly enjoy spending time each day getting choked out or beat up, running extensive distances (by choice, not even away from something threatening), picking heavy shit up just to put it down and pick it up again, and attempting to defy gravity in a leotard. We are down to about twenty hours, so back to the beginning, Im a twenty-four year old girl, I spend the rest of my time hanging out with my boyfriend, shopping with my girlfriends and binge watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix. More or less, this is me, thats the smallest blurb I could break my story down too, and  if you want to know more jump on board. My blog will cover my artistic ventures, how and what I am producing, and all the ridiculousness that occurs through the process. Lets do this thing.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and checking out a little bit about who I am.
